Diy Dye Wool Rug

The only items i had to buy for this diy project were the rit dye and the scotchgard.
Diy dye wool rug. In a great twist of fate i found a large 10 x 12 wool rug at the thrift store for only 15. Stir the dye bath with a wooden stirring stick to evenly spread the dye. One idea i stumbled onto was the overdyed rug where you take an ugly old natural fiber rug and dye it a rich jewel tone to mask the outdated pattern and make it more modern. Only dye your carpet if you are sure it is wool or nylon.
It all started when i scoured pinterest for budget friendly diy rug ideas. Just prior to dyeing add several large potfuls of boiling water which will give your rug a much better color result. Add the amount of liquid or predissolved dye required for your rug. Also make sure that you have a funnel and bottle with spray.
If you are using a powder dye predissolve the dye in 2 cups of boiling water. Read the dye packaging carefully to make sure it is safe for use on these materials. These products are easy enough to get hold of in stores. Everything else i already had at home and i would imagine that most other people do too.
Choose the right carpet dye for your carpet.
